I can’t wait to share this beautiful wedding at The Ashes in Staffordshire. The Ashes is a stunning barn wedding venue surrounded by Staffordshire countryside. There are two barns that have been converted into the perfect setting for a wedding with one for the ceremony and reception drinks and another for the wedding breakfast and party. Guests can relax outside in the courtyard and enjoy the lovely views and its one of the only venues around that have no corkage. More wine!

I first met Jack and Suzanne at a wedding fair a few years ago and they’d told me how they weren’t going to have a wedding photographer as all they had been put off by some of the ones they had spoke to. They were looking for very natural wedding photography and didn’t want anything staged. Jack and Suzanne are just the loveliest people, Suzanne is the organiser and the brains behind most of the wedding styling but Jack was quite involved in the planning process and also entrusted with the table flower arrangements on the wedding morning, which looked amazing!
On the day of the wedding Suzanne was getting ready at a cottage nearby with her bridesmaids, daughter Emily and family. Suzanne’s wedding dress was a stunning white gown with ornate detailed back- we joked it was heavier than a small child whilst they were moving it- i’m not sure how she carried it around all day but it was worth the effort! The bridesmaids wore victorian-esque blue/grey dresses from Asos which all tied in beautifully with the cameo jewellery suzanne had chosen.
Suzanne had planned a surprise for Jack and just before the ceremony an Owl arrived which would be delivering the rings during the ceremony, thank god for long lenses meaning i could stay in the corner as it flew across the room- i’m a bit of a wimp!

The barn looked beautiful for the wedding breakfast, with flowers and candles everywhere and and the most divine looking cake i’ve ever seen! I’m not sure if the fact i have quit eating sugar made it all the more appealing!
The highlight of the day for Jack and Suzanne was quite possibly my second photographer going flying as she tripped when we were doing some evening portraits, thankfully she and her cameras were ok but it certainly tickled these two 😉
In the evening Funk Soul Family got all the guests up after the First Dance with a line up and some pretty adventurous moves as various guests danced down the line in pairs! Thank you Amy from Amy Louise Photography for being my lovely second photographer for the day.
