Heather & James’ Stirk House Wedding in Gisburn was an awesome school fete themed wedding and was so much fun to photograph.
Heather and James are both teachers (how did you guess?!) and met in their first jobs at a Catholic High School in Rossendale. Fast forward a few years later and James proposed when they were on holiday in Brussels for their anniversary in 2014. James proposed whilst they were sat on a park bench laughing at some tourists trying to row a boat!
James and Heather’s Stirk House Wedding was planned to perfection with no detail left unthought of. They had a school fete theme and had hand crafted all the individual stalls which were set up ready for after the wedding breakfast and went down a treat with the guests. Tables were named after subjects and guests each had their own ‘lunch money’ envelope as a favour containing their score cards for the stalls. I have never seen so much thought and imagination go into a wedding theme!
Stirk House Wedding in Gisburn
Stirk House is one of my favourite wedding venues and located in Gisburn, not far from Clitheroe. Not least for the fact that the infamous Dave, works there as the Manager and seamlessly makes every wedding go smoothly without breaking a sweat. But also, because it’s set amongst beautiful Ribble Valley countryside and they do the most amazing food! Not only is it surrounded by lovely manicured grounds but a short walk around the right side of the hotel and you’re in a beautiful woodland handily located right where the sun sets, so a photographers dream.
Heather and James’ Stirk House Wedding highlights are below along with my favourite photos from their day. To see more recent weddings head over to the dedicated area.
