Fishermans Retreat Wedding

Sofia & Liam’s Fishermans Retreat Wedding was pretty spectacular! These two are just gorgeous people with so much love for each other and didn’t stop smiling and laughing all day!

Fishermans Retreat Wedding

The Fisherman’s Retreat is a venue close to my heart because I grew up in Edenfield and this place just reminds me of home. The Fishermans Retreat is surrounded by acres of gorgeous Lancashire countryside and several tarns which make a stunning backdrop for a relaxed countryside wedding. This wedding venue also has a beautiful room with floor to ceiling windows looking out at the countryside which really gives the Wedding Breakfast the wow factor!

The most important thing for Liam and Sofia when it came to their Wedding Photography was that it was natural and relaxed, they told me they both hate posing and feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. This is nothing new! Most of my couples are daunted by the prospect of being posed for hours on end by some awkward person who makes them stare longingly into each others eyes.

I believe that the photographs should be a fun part of the day so I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to help my couples relax and forget about the camera. I mean, who doesn’t want photos of themselves bent over double belly laughing on their Wedding day?!

Sofia and Liam absolutely nailed their super relaxed Wedding I had the best day being their Wedding Photographer. Have a watch of their highlight slideshow below to see why their Fishermans Retreat Wedding was so fabulous.

Top Tips to get the best Natural Wedding Photography

I’m currently planning my own Wedding and it got me thinking more about how i can help prospective couples by passing on some useful tips, so i’m going to be sharing some wisdom on future blog posts inspired by each wedding I photograph. Sofia and Liam achieved the perfect relaxed day with plenty of time for relaxing with guests which meant we got loads of natural photos. Here’s a few tips if you’re trying to plan a super chilled wedding day.

Getting awesome natural wedding photography isn’t as simple as just booking a good natural/documentary wedding photographer, here’s a few tips:

  • Plan realistic timescales- work out everything allowing in extra time for getting in your dress, getting to and from venues and things running over. If you’re running round the house in a last minute panic, your photos of this part of the day will reflect that
  • Select your ceremony time carefully- it’s true there is such a thing as too early for a ceremony. Too early and your guests will be sleepy after the Wedding Breakfast and it can be harder to get the party started in the evening. The main thing is to plan around your logistics, if you’re staying in the same place for everything then 1/2pm usually works great for fitting everything in but if you’re in one venue for bridal prep then onto a church then another venue sometimes getting married earlier is better. Don’t forget to allow time for guests to check in to their accommodation etc
  • IGNORE ME! Seriously. You may notice the Photographer from time to time but our main aim is to be unobtrusive and snap away those natural moments as they happen. Try to gorget we’re there and we’ll capture the spontaneous moments
