Best Wedding Venues in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire

Best Wedding Venues in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire

Occasionally I get asked to recommend the best wedding venues in the ribble valley or lancashire, sometimes when couples have met me at a wedding and decided I am their wedding photographer before they even book the venue. I’m no expert, but I have had the benefit of working in most of the wedding venues across the Ribble Valley covering Clitheroe, Whalley and beyond so can often give an honest opinion from a suppliers point of view. I spend all day with most of my couples and have a first hand view on their experiences on the day. There are some venues that really stand out to me, for many reasons, and this is my own personal opinion and not intended to exclude in any way but to help some of my couples who are stuck on the all important decision-  their wedding venue.

So here’s some of my favourite wedding venues from the Whalley, Clitheroe and Ribble Valley area, in no particular order.

Eaves Hall- West Bradford- Clitheroe

Eaves Hall is situated in West Bradford, which surprisingly (to me when i first discovered it) is no where near Bradford! And actually in the gorgeous Ribble Valley just outside Clitheroe.

The tree lined driveway is pretty spectacular and there’s more gardens, paths and a huge lush lawn than you’ll ever have time cover so theres no shortage of backdrops for photographs on a dry day. For winter weddings, its original features and character means that photos indoors will be just as stunning with its gorgeous fireplaces, grand piano, snooker room and balcony from the bridal suite, theres no end of options. The food is amazing, and despite them doing so many weddings each year, every wedding feels just as special with no detail spared.

Browsholme Hall- Clitheroe

Browsholme Hall is a stunning historic house, and the oldest surviving family home in the Ribble Valley. The Tithe Barn which is set within the gorgeous scenic grounds has been converted into a wedding venue which can hold up to 120 guests and still benefits from the beautiful scenery that surrounds the property.

Browsholme Hall have several caterers on their books so you can choose depending on the type of food you prefer. There is a stunning lake within the grounds with its own boat house which can be used for adventurous couples wanting epic photographs on the lake! But even if you’re not feeling clambering into a boat in a wedding dress, the gardens and grounds are perfectly kept and make the perfect backdrop for any wedding.

The Inn at Whitewell-Whitewell- Near Clitheroe

wedding photography in lancashire, black and white bride and groom portraiture

The Inn at Whitewell is located near Clitheroe deep in the beautiful Ribble Valley countryside surrounded by fields and woodland. It is originally a rural Inn and has a real ‘country pub’ feel to it despite being pretty large with 23 bedrooms.

Weddings are in the purpose built marquee at the back of the building which benefit from the glorious views over the river into the ribble valley with its own garden area for guests to mingle. It has a real cosy feel to it and with its prime location comes the most stunning scenery for photographs just a stones throw away.

Mitton Hall- Mitton- Whalley

Mitton Hall is nestled amongst lovely green countryside in the quiet area of Mitton, just a few minutes up the road from Whalley. It is perhaps my ultimate favourite, for its 15th century charm and character are just beautiful and visible in the main hotel areas as well as the guest rooms.

It is surrounded by both beautiful gardens, woodland, rockery and a river with lovely views from the function room and patio at the back of the building. The service here is second to none and the staff go the extra mile to make sure that every wedding is perfect, from the amazing food to the small details that are individual to each couple.

Obviously photography is a big consideration for me and I love the indoor spaces and oldy worldy charm which makes for beautiful photographs whatever the weather, indoors if need be, this flexibility often means that couples are more relaxed as the weather has less impact on their day.

Stanley House Hotel- Mellor- Blackburn

Stanley House Hotel is set within gorgeous countryside in Mellor. Despite being 5 minutes from the town it has a real countryside feel to it but is very easy to get to with major roads being near by.

The original Stanley House has been added to with two further buildings on either side with the hotel and spa and then the restaurant and function rooms. There’s two choices of room, one is quite rustic and cosy and the other more fresh and modern so you can choose the one that suits your wedding. The grounds are perfectly manicured and with fields on every side you’ll be spoilt for choice for photo locations.

The bride and groom get free use of the spa too so its a great choice if you want a longer stay and some relaxation before or after the wedding!
