Katie & Troy travelled all the way from New Zealand for their Wedding in a tiny Lake District town, in the cutest little village church and village hall.
Katie is originally from Cumbria but moved to the other side of the world to be a vet and met the lovely Troy, who she now lives with in New Zealand. So when they decided to get married, they knew they had to have it in Katie’s home town in the beautiful Lake District in Cumbria.
A Lake District Village Hall Wedding
On the day i was working with my lovely friend Rachel from Rachel Joyce Photography which is always so much fun and usually leads to a bit of giddiness and dancing (Rachel does the dancing!). We had two Lake District Weddings this weekend so it meant we also got to have a little girly holiday and stayed in a cute B&B.
On the wedding morning i headed over to Troy and the boys where they were staying in a gorgeous holiday cottage (I may have got slightly lost on the way!). Troy was getting ready with his groomsmen, parents, sisters and grandfather which made for a really fun morning as we laughed at tie mishaps and the usual shirt ironing struggles! We managed to get outside for some lovely family photos before we meandered to the village pub and then the gorgeous little village church where the ceremony ended with the bridal party sawing themselves out of the gate which had been tied up by the village children in a ceremonial tradition!
Katie arrived on a horse and carriage which was a lovely surprise for Troy so after the ceremony the newlyweds headed off in the horse and carriage for a romantic picnic whilst I enjoyed afternoon tea with the wedding guests at the village hall. Filling my face with sandwiches and cake, it’s not a bad job this being a Wedding Photographer!
