I’m a baby portrait photographer in Lancashire and I capture babies from as little as a few days old. I’m often asked how I photograph older babies; when tiny babies are very new they are sleepy for at least the first 10-14 days which makes it easier to pose them on a beanbag, often naked without them waking up. As they get older this becomes harder which is why we advise clients wanting those cute sleepy poses to do their session within the first few weeks.
I photographed baby Oscar quite a while ago and he’s now a pretty active toddler, his session is a great example of what we can do with older babies, he was 5 months old when I went to his house to make these photos and he certainly didn’t stay asleep for the whole session. I guess what I am trying to show here is that the age of the baby means the photographs are often quite different, but equally as beautiful, so its just something to bear in mind when thinking about when to have your baby photos done.
Oscar’s mummy was absolutely over the moon with her photos and I think I have since photographed every one of her friends and neighbours babies too, here’s what she sent me when she saw her baby’s pictures:
“All I can say is WOW!!!! I’m so in love with all of my baby’s photos. They are absolutely amazing I love every single one. They’ve made me smile and cry with happiness at just how good they are. Every little detail captured, his eyes, smile, facial expressions and tiny little feet. Outstanding photographer and I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a baby shoot done. I have so much positive feedback it would probably take me a month to write. Kathryn thank you so much for everything xxx”
This is still one of my favourite ever baby sessions, if your looking for baby portraits and your little one is a few months old or more then why not get in touch.
